Yosemite was beautiful yadda yadda yadda, the real highlight was our decision to go rafting because as always we were that family. You know the ones… the family that refuses to let anyone else relax and insists that everyone else join in with their obnoxiousness.
Well basically, about ten minutes in to our rafting trip dad decided that we were going to be pirates and so for the next hour we would shout “ramming speed!” and go full paddle towards the nearest boat.
Dad also insisted that we go down the streams that were obviously not meant for the raft. At one point he said, “Let’s go under that branch! Wait.. no. We’ll get stuck. We’ll probably get hurt. We shouldn’t.” Then seconds later… “I changed my mind! Let’s do it!” Needless to say, this happened:
After this we attacked a boat with a French family in it. Their son was the bravest French person that ever existed and possibly the only person in the history of their country not to surrender. A full battle ensued.
People often ask if I’m embarrassed by my father but after nearly twenty-one years I would be more taken aback if he didn’t act like he does. Certainly, it was one of the highlights of our trip so far.
